This client contracted to makeover their backyard pool area. A fenced area completely surrounding the pool left little room for landscaping. Our challenge was to enhance existing space that was mostly hardscape. Access to the pool was gained through a side gate and patio connecting to the house.

  OUR INTUITIVE SOLUTION

We evaluated the site and proposed a vertical multi-tier design solution.

1. Enhance path from yard and gate with landscaping and modern pavement
2. Create eye-appeal along fences using trees, shrubbery, and plants
3. Utilize artificial turf in an area constantly exposed to chlorine water

  DEMOLITION

The uninspiring original walkway was completely removed. All outdated shrubbery and ground cover areas were removed.

  CONSTRUCTION

To limit wet feet from tracking mud into the house and pool area, Gardens for Texas replaced sidewalk and dirt areas leading from the front yard along the fence. A visually-appealing hardscape was installed that completely covered the area. The result was a no maintenance solution.

Our landscape design involved installing look-alike trees in the narrow beds along the back fence. This was mirrored in another area along the side fence.

In collaboration with the client, we selected a species of beautiful trees to add drama to the fence area at the end of the pool and mirror elsewhere.

Organic compost and soil enhancements were installed in all plant bedding areas replacing old turf and fill dirt. Mulch was heavily laid to manage moisture and prevent weeds.

A variety of drought-tolerant plants suited to the Texas climate were installed in long linear flower beds surrounding the pool.

Together we created a dramatic and modern pool and outdoor living area surrounded by beautiful landscape.

New landscaping has greatly enhanced the overall look of the pool area. Multiple shapes, textures, and design elements turned a blank canvas into an eye-catching and visually interesting space.
